Derek is an attorney licensed to practice in Kentucky. He has practiced law for more than twenty years and has almost exclusively represented individuals and small businesses. He helps in estate and business planning and in litigation.
Derek received his B.A. from Eastern Kentucky University and his J.D. from Northern Kentucky University, Salmon P. Chase College of Law.
He’s been a youth baseball and soccer coach and discovered managing young athletes, their parents, umpires, and officials is a lot like practicing law.
Derek has also served on the board of several local non-profits. He is the father of a special needs child. He co-authored a book with his friend George Duvall called Dead or In Prison; My Journey Through Foster Care.
Derek enjoys time with his quirky family. One of his kids likes sports, the other likes art and video games. There’s nothing like a long walk with his wife and their dog. He also enjoys cooking good meat, drinking fine wine, discussing theology, and reading. Originally from London, Kentucky, he lives in Lexington with his wife, two sons, a dog, a cat, and a frog.
